Who we are

Sim Racer Tools is a companion app for sim racing games, and simracertools.com is its website. Both are run by Devology UK. This policy explains what data the app and the website collect, why, and what control you have over it.

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us.

The Sim Racer Tools app

Data that stays on your PC

The app records sessions, lap times, telemetry, car setups and settings from the games you play. All of this is stored only on your own computer. It is never sent to us, and we can’t see it.

Anonymous usage statistics

When the app starts, and once a day while it is running, it sends a small anonymous message to simracertools.com containing:

We use this only to count how many installs are active and which games and versions are in use. It helps us decide what to work on next.

The install ID is random and is not linked to your name, your email address or your Setup Sharing account. We don’t store your IP address with usage statistics. Records of installs that haven’t been seen for 12 months are deleted.

To turn this off, open the Sim Racer Tools window, go to the Integrations tab, and untick Send anonymous usage statistics.

Setup Sharing (optional)

You can choose to connect the app to simracertools.com to share car setups with other users. If you do, we store:

Setups you share, and your display name, can be seen and downloaded by other Sim Racer Tools users. Your email address is never shown to other users.

When you connect, the app stores a sign-in token on your PC, encrypted by Windows so that only your Windows account can read it. You can disconnect at any time from the Integrations tab, which removes the token from your PC.

Setup Sharing is optional. Everything else in the app works without it.

The website

Accounts

If you have an account on simracertools.com (for example, one created through Setup Sharing), we store your username, email address and display name. You can view and edit your profile when logged in.

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect the data in the comment form, plus your IP address and your browser’s user agent string, to help detect spam.

An anonymised string created from your email address (called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public next to your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images that have location data (EXIF GPS) embedded in them. Visitors to the website can download these images and extract the location data.

Cookies

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos or images. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content.

Who we share your data with

We don’t sell or share your data with anyone for marketing. Data is shared only as follows:

How long we keep your data

Your rights over your data

You can ask us:

We may keep data we’re required to hold for legal or security reasons.

Usage statistics can’t be linked to you, so we can’t find or remove them by name. Turning off usage statistics in the app stops any more being sent. Anything already sent is deleted automatically after 12 months.

To make a request, contact us at [contact email].

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
